RESTAURANTS
Outside of Cadaqués:
With four of the world’s top restaurants within easy travelling distance of Ses Vistes, the region has a well deserved reputation for its cuisine. www.theworlds50best.com
El Bulli
The restaurant voted best in the world in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 (and Ferran Adria as Chef of the decade in 2010) El Bulli, is in the neighbouring bay of Cala de Montjoi, between Cadaqués and Roses. Sadly it closed its doors at the end of July 2011 for a two year break, but don’t despair, there are many other great restaurants to experience in the area.

Miramar
This is a really fabulous restaurant just 40 minutes drive away in the Port of Llançà. Owned and run by head chef Paco Perez, it was awarded its second Michelin star in 2010 and is an absolute must. The Menu Degustacion is wonderful. Book on +34 972 38 01 32 – you should be able to get a table (for now!).

Hotel Empordà
One of the top restaurants in Figueres.

Hotel Bon Retorn
We really like this one. Has first-class cuisine (the foie-gras is delicious and the fiduea is well worth trying – like a paella but with noodles instead of rice), is on the outskirts of Figueres, easy to park, has a lovely outdoor pool for the kids (and great macaroni and deserts). Great if you are planning an excursion to Figueres for the Dali museum or shopping – stop here on the way or on the way back.

Tramonti – Roses
Situated on the promenade, just off the square as you come into the centre of Roses, they serve THE most wonderful pizzas – best we have ever had (choose from the chef’s specials) and salads.

CADAQUES RESTAURANTS
The following are just some of the restaurants that we know and have tried a number of occasions (some more than others). There are many restaurants in Cadaqués that are no doubt equally good.
Compartir
Just opened in 2012, this is a really good restaurant run by three chefs from El Bulli. Excellent food, nice atmosphere and surprisingly inexpensive. Compartir means ‘to share’ and all dishes are meant to be shared between you and your guests. Essential to book.

Es Baluard
Excellent quality fresh fish, excellent service and lovely views across the bay of Cadaqués. Located round to the right of the Bay up some steps beside Sa Gambina.

Haiku Tast
Truly excellent japanese fusion cuisine in a facinating restaurant near Playa Es Poal - there are only 4 tables, maximum 15 people, so you will need to book. Chef/owner Federico Filipet has worked with many of the region’s top chefs including Ferran Adria at El Bulli

Horta D’en Rahola
A real hidden gem, just off the roundabout as you come into Cadaqués, beside the main car park. Excellent food, nice surroundings and its own car park!

Excellent quality food; efficient, friendly service; well recommended. Up the hill beside the Tourist Information Office.

Casa Anita
A good one to get talking to new people as tables are shared refectory style. Often very busy at peak periods and can be quite noisy but you’ll often get a free drink whilst you’re waiting outside. Located in the pedestrian road just past the pharmacy near the square.
Tel: +34 972 25 84 71
Tiramisu
Located in an outdoor garden off the same pedestrian road. Very nice food and lovely setting.

Casa Nun
Pretty restaurant in a lovely position, tucked away off the main square in the corner of the Bay. Interesting menu with excellent food.

Cap de Creus
Located in the square building that looks like a fort behind the lighthouse itself, this is a lively and popular place in a spectacular setting. Fresh fish and Indian dishes. Open all year except November. Advisable to book.
